SUNSET IN PARANGTRITIS BEACH 2020

PARANGTRITIS BEACH RESORT
Parangtritis ha long been famous, not only as a beach resort where sand-dunes, sandy beach and rocky cliffs meet, but it is also a historical place which closely related to the mysterious legend of the Queen of the south sea " Kanjeng Ratu Kidul ", who together with her confident, the feared Nyai Loro Kidul, the ever youthful and beautiful queen, reign over sea nymphs and spirits. The Legends say that Kanjeng Ratu Kidul was married to one of the Mataram Monarch, Panembahan Senopati whom she visited and communed
with on certain occasions. It is said that the name Parangtritis expresses a natural phenomenon. From the wall of one of the hills drops off water containing calcium continuously dripped down and finally formed a pool with a very clear water in it. Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono Vll found and took care of it. The pool is now used as the bathing pool of Parangtritis swimming pool.

VISIT LAVA TOUR in Mount MERAPI 2020

 LAVA TOUR Mt.MERAPI 2016
The kaliadem could be reached by your own vehicle; the route heading is easier. But you must be careful, about 5 kilometers near the tourist area, you will find the tight, up and down small streets
This position of the Kaliadem is 1100 meters above the sea level. It's make the air still relatively cool, although the tree forest was destroyed when the hot clouds hit on. On June 2006 the government closed Kaliadem until the situation safer and the activity of Mount Merapi back to normal. When the area was opened again, hundreds visitors has been came until today, locals and foreigners. A few months after the eruption, some buildings and many objects that burnt just left.  Including a motorcycle belong to the SAR of Merapi and some little houses. This view becomes interesting attractions for tourists. And now, these objects can be seen at Gunung Merapi Museum. At this time, Kaliadem areas is dominated with white sand and the stones from the Mount Merapi eruption, looks more exotic. Sometimes, Merapi Peak is seen so clearly without any equipment tools because it's very close. Especially at night, the visitor can watch molten lava from the peak. The red lava looks contrast with the dark night sky. One more thing that interesting for the tourist is the bunker where two of safety guards of Merapi were died. They were trying to enter the bunker when the hot clouds slide down from the mountain. It's a pity that the bunker was closed with dry lava and volcanic material, so their body roasted inside.Because of the accident, sometimes the local peoples tell about local myth.  There are restrictions for visitors who want to enter Kaliadem using clothes with red, yellow, or orange color. The local believes that if someone use one of the color, it can cause the lava from Mount Merapi come out and will catch up the owner of the color. Don't  be afraid with the eruption of The Mount Merapi. Southern place is placed with volcano signal and alarm. When you planned to visit Kaliadem don't forget to bring your camera. Takes every moment and every corner at Lava Tour area, there's area you will get a lot of interesting object and exotic view.(Toulous Tour Doc)

VISIT SULTAN PALACE ,WATER CASTLE & STAY IN YOGYA

In the City of Yogyakarta

There are no translations available.

CULTURAL HOTBED
Approximately 5 million people live in this densely populated city, filled with pride and cultural expression, shown through the diverse arts and crafts produced locally. Until today this city continues to produce philosophers, thinkers, artists and master craftsmen. Yogyakarta is also commonly known as Jogjakarta, or just Jogja.

SPECIAL  TERRITORY
Yogyakarta continues its long history of being a Sultanate… in which the Sultan himself is widely adored and revered. The Sultan of Yogyakarta has been progressive and forward thinking, amongst other things, encouraging higher education and donating land for Universities to be established. For this reason Yogyakarta is now bustling with students.
The Sultan of Yogyakarta has held an important role in the history of the republic of Indonesia, being involved in the politics and declaring the Sultanate a part of the greater Indonesia upon independence from the Dutch.
STAYING POWER
Yogyakata is often used as a base for travel around central Java, and there is a great range of options for accommodation & delicious local food. In general, prices in Yogyakarta are lower than in Jakarta. For advice on your accommodation options, our Visitor Assistance Centre can give you recommendations within your budget and preferences.

The weather is consistently around 30 C / 86 F during the day, with a high humidity of around 75%. Wet season starts as early as September to around March, when it will rain most days for a period, but as it is not cold, it is still reasonably comfortable to travel and see the sights.

With the mountains Merapi and Merbabu close by, the land has a rich volcanic soil, that is hugely fertile. Sugar cane, rice, and tobacco are grown locally.

SIGHTS TO SEE
yogya_palace Sultans Palace [Kraton]
The revered Sultan of Yogyakarta has opened up a large portion of his palace up for people to visit. The architecture of the buildings dates back to 1756.
It is an opportunity to see traditional Javanese culture, there are often performances of dance, music, and there is a permanent exhibition of the local crafts such as Batik, which explains the intricate meanings behind and uses for the many traditional designs.
Water Castle – Taman Sari
The water castle was built as a ten hectare pleasure park and residence for the Sultan, his family, and entourage, close to his Palace. It was completed in 1765. The architecture is said to be Portuguese with Javanese influences, and made the most of an artesian water spring to furnish a series of swimming pools and a substantial series of lakes with water.
watercastle2

Originally the complex included artificial lakes that could be traversed by boat with islands and pavilions, and a bathing complex. Underground/underwater passages linked the buildings. Some of these passages remain in use. Others have since collapsed. A story that a passage connected the Palace to the Indian Ocean may have given a means of escape should the palace be attacked.

watercastle5

The area fell into disuse after an earthquake in 1867 which caused substantial damage, and slowly squatters began to move in and settle villages throughout.
The site is extraordinary, and restoration work is being done, with a potential UNESCO world heritage listing in the works. Until then, with a guide and some imagination, the former glory can still unfold in front of you.

jogja_filigreeKotogede and Silverwork

Please do not bring cameras with you, or wear gold jewellery. The Koto Gede mosque within the graveyard is the oldest mosque in the area. A narrow passage way behind the wall around the graveyard area lets you see the local architecture and observe the daily activities of the people in Kotogede. A series of well preserved traditional houses for visitor viewing are just to the south of the graveyard. Further south a fortress and palace (Kedhaton) remain.

VISIT BOROBUDUR SUNRISE & PRAMBANAN TEMPLE 2020

 More about Prambanan Temple

Structure

There are no translations available.

cross_section_sivaThe high structures are typical of Hindu architecture, and the plan of the temple complex is a Mandala, as is Borobudur.
As a symbol of the Hindu cosmos, the temple or candi is vertically into three parts, both vertically and in plan.
Bhurloka: The base of the temples, as well as the outer square is the underworld. A place for ordinary folk, mortals, both human and animal. The place where lust and desire are commonplace. This is an unholy area.
Bhuvarloka: The central body of the temples and the middle square of the complex, represents the ‘middle world’ the place for those who have left their worldly possessions. This is where people begin to see the light of truth.
Svarloka: The top of the temples, and the innermost square represents the realm of the gods, the holiest zone, and is crowned.

During the restoration of the Siva temple a well of over 5 metres depth was found, which contained a stone casket.

Worshiping ancestors

There are no translations available.

It is understood that when a king or prominent person died, the ashes of the deceased along with various objects representing physical and spiritual symbols of the cosmos, were placed in a stone casket. This casket was placed in a shaft in the base of a temple, above it was built a statue of a god, of whom the deceased was said to be an incarnation. This statue then becomes the object of worship for those honouring and worshipping the king. Ancestor worship has been an Indonesian cultural tradition since prehistoric times, and it has been adapted into the local adaptions of Hinduism and Buddhism. Some archaeologists suggest that the idol of Shiva in the central chamber of the Prambanan’s main temple is modelled after King Balitung, of the Mataram Kingdom. One of the possible instigators of the temple building.

The casket found in the well of the Siva temple at Prambanan was sitting on a pile of charcoal, earth and animal bones. It contained a variety of objects, including, coins, jewels, precious metals and ashes. Gold sheets with inscriptions of Varuna, the god of the sea, and Parvata, the god of the mountains were also found.

Built over time

There are no translations available.

The temple complex was most likely built in stages. Estimated to have been commenced during the late 9th and early 10th Century, by either Rakai Pikatan or Balitung Maha Sambu the Sanjaya king of the Mataram Kingdom. It is suggested that it was built as a Hindu response to the Buddhist Borobudur, which was built by the concurrent Saliendra dynasty.

The temple complex was expanded in stages by successive Mataram kings, with the addition of the hundreds of ‘perwara’ temples around the central temples. Prambanan was used by the Mataram royal family for its religious ceremonies and sacrifices.

prambanan_1895 Just like Borobudur, when power moved to western Java around 930AD the Prambanan temples were left abandoned and suffered the ravages of earthquakes and nature before being rediscovered.

A large earthquake in the 16th Century led to a further collapse of the temples.
Dutchman CA Lons wrote a report on the state of the temple in 1733, with a great deal of the temple being under ground and covered with plants.
The British also surveyed the ruins after Collin Mackenzie under Sir Stamford Raffles came across the temple ruins by chance in 1811. Restoration works commenced in 1830, the main Siva temple was completed in 1953, and works continue to this day. An earthquake in 1996 did cause further damage to Prambanan and many other temples in the area. The local Hindus, often of Balinese heritage, have revived Prambanan as a religious venue, performing their ceremonies and rituals here.
Close by and within the archeological park, are the lesser known Sewu, Bubrah, and Lumbung Temples, all Buddhist, demonstrating the religious harmony experienced in Indonesia throughout the ages.

Within Prambanan Compounds

There are no translations available.
The Prambanan Temple Compounds are greater than the Loro Djonggrang complex alone, with a series of significant Buddhist temples close by.
prambanan_all
Candi Sewu Complex and Candi Bubrah
There are no translations available.

Within the Prambanan Park, 800 metres north of the Hindu Prambanan temples is the Candi Sewu Complex and is the second largest Buddhist temple in Java, Borobudur bring the largest.
sewu1
The name Candi Sewu means 1000 temples, which links it to the legend of Loro Djonggrang. In fact this complex has 253 building structures.
sewuAerial

Candi Sewu predates the Prambanan Hindu temple complex (often referred to as the Loro Djonggrang complex), it was most likely originally built in the 8th Century by Rakai Panangkaran, of the Mataram Dynasty, and then expanded by Rakai Pikatan, a prince of the Sanjaya Dynasty who married a Buddhist princess from the Saliendra Dynasty. The Saliendras built Borobudur.
sewu2
The proximity of the Candi Sewu complex to the Hindu complex suggests that the two religions co-existed harmoniously. The Candi Sewu temple complex was most likely used for royal ceremonies and rituals.
The rectangular grounds measure 185m by 165m, placed in the traditional mandala pattern around a central temple.

Additionally four ‘vanguard’ temples were placed in the compass positions at around 300m from the central rectangle. One of these remains, and is called Candi Bubrah, and is located between Prambanan’s Hindu complex and Candi Sewu. Bubrah means broken, as it has been in a state of ruins for many years.

Candi Lumbung

There are no translations available.

lumbung
Candi Lumbung is a Buddhist temple built around 850AD by the Mataram Dynasty, which consists of a single central temple surrounded by 16 smaller temples. The temples house niches and altars for carved imagery. In all, the temple complex was built to house over 120 images. Female deities grace the exterior of the central temple.
